Probably one of the most controversial movies known on the net itself. This performance gives off all different views and expressed ideas from viewers. Watch. Is it a real performance, or pre-recorded? There is an answer.

I wish they would have let Stephen Hawking on stage with them. I guess the world just wasn't ready for a wheelchair-bound, ALS suffering genius as an MC....
Nope. It would not work that way because he is pressing the step buttons and supposedly making different notes with them. It absolutely will not do that. Even if he added a CV out the step buttons do not send any kind of pitch info. In fact, they do not send any info when you push them. They only turn on or off a particular step.
I just read an interview with Autechre about their early setups. This included, and I quote:
"We also acquired little delay devices and this little Boss thing that could do delays and be a sampler. Next we got a Roland TR606, with which we could trigger the sampler."
Jimi Tenor also did this with a 606 by bolting a trigger onto the drum machine. Can also be done with a Roland S-10 via DIN SYNC.
I also doubt the step buttons were doing this. But he could have done this just to look busy.
To be honest, it's a really pathetic performance of these otherwise fine artists. (And certainly not live.) Especially the Dolby-TR606-solo is embarrassing, to say the least. But the song itself is alright for it's days. And it's fun to watch.
