Melia Mariano / Empire State

The fantasy music video that is becoming a reality. A young dancer travels from the west coast to New York City to audition for a spot in a Broadway show, featuring Melia Mariano as the intrepid ingénue. In real life, Melia and her sister Kiana made their New York debut in September as featured dancers at the 2011 Couture Fashion Week runway shows in Manhattan, and they will soon be auditioning for New York City musical theater roles.

Interestingly, after my video was published, Melia did go to New York and perform at Fashion Week. Later this year, Melia and Kiana will revisit NYC for more auditions, interviews, and performances.

@287queen She is now taking voice training as well as dance and will appear in a Christmas-themed stage production in North Hollywood. We hope to see her auditioning in New York City within a year or two.
