District 9 Movie Review! My First Movie Review so bare with me.

My Thoughts: Its excellent. The first half is slightly different from the second, but both are above average. I will tell you this, the first 45 minutes are like nothing you've seen before. A nice new spin on Docu-Drama genre thanks to the introduction of a sci-fi element. I believe its scheduled for a August 14th release in the states.

Short synopsis from online:
Aliens peacefully come to Earth but are kept at District 9 where they are forced to work for the community. MNU (Multi-National United) are tasked with discovering the technology behind the alien weapons. When a soldier from MNU is exposed to alien biotechnology, he mutates into a half human and half Non-Human and becomes a wanted man by both sides.

District 9 is an upcoming science fiction film produced by Peter Jackson and directed by Neill Blomkamp. The film is set for an August 13, 2009 release date.[2] It takes place in Johannesburg, South Africa. In the United States, the film is rated R for bloody violence and pervasive language. District 9 is based on Alive in Joburg (video), a short film directed by Neill Blomkamp, Sharlto Copley, Simon Hansen and Shanon Worley. The title is influenced by the real-life District 6 in Cape Town. Copley also portrayed one of the interviewed policemen. The short film is about aliens landing in South Africa and becoming confined to a specific area and forced to work.

DIstrict 9, greatest scifi movie ever.

it was a really awesome movie and the fact that it was not directed by an american director and it also has a limited budget but it looks like a big budget film.....this is why i loved sci fi movies with action and story not some robot transforming to cars ,explosions and teen humor, this is the best sci fi film since i saw T2 and that was a long time ago....Niel blomkamp should direct Transformers 3 in my opinion because he's proven that he be a hell of a director...

I liked this film and the twist. I agree with you it is like watching two different films. It’s a long movie but doesn’t feel like it since it moves so quickly. I like everything from the story, to the acting, to the special effects. It’s also much different than your every day alien film. I agree with this review and your rating. It’s a great film! I'm not brain dead. This movie doesn't make any sense. Most movies I seen in the last couple of years are better than this. I give it -1 stars. lower than 0 stars. As soon as I see a theatrical movie worse than this, I'll admit I am wrong.

@brandon98188 ohohoh jesus are you that fucking shallow? just because something looks good doesnt account for what its worth. hancock was a huge shit pile, didnt explain anything, and I am legend's ending was fucking unreasonable and plain stupid. jesus kid do you even have a soul? if you cant relate to anything in the movie you are just dead, fucking dead

I can't think of them right of hand but it's a wretched movie. It's ugly to look at and I can't relate to any of the characters. I can't relate to the aliens. Hancock and I am Legend are way better than this movie. And I didn't care for those movies. It's worse than Avatar also, and that's a bad movie also. To me only Transformers 2 was equally as bad as this. "Inception" and "Terminator 4" are way better to look at.

@brandon98188 plot holes? Such as ? The plot is very simple. What makes it great is the emotional journey and realism.

Just because you don't like the film doesn't make it good / bad. Art in all its form is subjective. . .

Sorry, it was a horrible movie. a complete waist of film. It's not just a bad movie that you sit through, not really liking it, no, it's complete garbage. too many plot holes. sorry, i'm here to save people who like good movies from waisting there time.

@Jhoxi1972 My father is a 8 to 6, not just working ..but a hard working Nigerian Male who does not deal drugs, pimp women, run crime syndicates, commit fraud, scam people, bribe people, extort people and any other debauch action. He has one of the most important jobs in retail pharmacy and makes a 6 figure yearly salary. Don't you dare undermine and belitte the average hardworking Nigerian because of your countries( where ever that may be) run in with some rift raft. Peace bruh.
