Another good Eric Clapton song!

LYRICS:
Twice upon a time in the valley of the tears
An auctioneer is bidding for a box of fading years
And the elephants are dancing on the graves of squealing mice.
Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?

And the ice creams are all melting on the streets of bloody beer
While the beggars stain the pavements with flourescent Christmas cheer
And the Bentley-driving guru is putting up his price.
Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?

And the prophets in the boutiques give out messages of hope
With jingle bells and fairy tales and blind colliding scopes
And you can tell they're all the same underneath the pretty lies.
Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?

The yellow Buddhist monk is burning brightly at the zoo
You can bring a bowl of rice and then a glass of water too
And fate is setting up the chessboard while death rolls out the dice.
Anyone for tennis, wouldn't that be nice?

  • this is a cream song

  • this song is on top of my feelgood playlist

    i love cream

  • Its on Goodbye, their 4th and final album

  • what a great song

  • @likemike06

It depends on the pressing. I have a US pressing of wheels of fire so the song isnt on it. I think maybe some of the UK pressings have this song on it. It was also released as a single

  • What is this "YEAH!!!" about?

  • This was a single that the band didnt think was good enough so they didnt put it on an album

  • @likemike06 I think it's on the Goodbye album

  • looks like you are right about Wheels of Fire (I have Cream's greatest hits, Fresh Cream, and Disreali Gears)

If you are unfamiliar with Cream, then maybe try their Greatest Hits and go from there.

  • @arouska

You're not the first one to say it was on Wheels of Fire, but when I check the track listings online, I don't see this song.

Is there a special edition with it on there?
