Sen. Landrieu, Chair of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, guided the bill through the Senate this week and pushed it to final-passage vote of 62 -- 37. The bill now awaits House action.
Funding this country on "continuing resolutions" year after year is so incredibly wasteful. I'm sure Mary Landrieu has her homeland security bill ready to go well in advance of the budget vote, but some of these senators know they can recklessly slash programs by insisting on CRs all the time, threatening a government shutdown, instead doing a budget like normal Americans.
Good for her for getting the Senate to focus for 10 seconds on something other than obstruction and the next election.
Thank you Senator Landrieu for your hard work and coming through for all of the States of the United States of America. After having experienced Katrina and the disaster and problems of rebuilding you have a unique perspective on the problems as they presented themselves. I appreciate your experience, diligence and continued enthusiastic work to improved Disaster response in the U.S.. Job well done and God Bless You!
