This song is dedicated to our fallen heroes. After seeing the cavalcade dozens of times as it made its way along the stretch of 401 highway between CFB Trenton and Toronto, I was inspired to write the lyrics to this song. It's a tribute to the Highway of Heroes, the stretch of the 401 that was renamed to honour Canada's fallen soldiers...the path they take to repatriation. It is also about how difficult it is to actually witness the cavalcade. I travel the Highway of Heroes stretch between Pickering and Oshawa almost every time the cavalcade passes through and I'm always touched by how emotional the experience is. You don't want to miss it...but you also don't want it to have to happen again. R.I. P., our fallen soldiers.
