If u start 1st, no need to cheat unless the other person is super-intelligent.
Just make sure the opponent is left with (4n+1) number of sticks when its their turn (like 13, 9, 5). And then ur back on track to do the 4, 4, 4 thing.

you can do it by voice, but be careful if you start first you have to get to a place where you can do the 4, 4, 4 thing

@princeof1day12 Take any 1 out. Planting 1 in and taking 1 out is the same as skipping a turn, or in this case, making the other person go first.
That said, it's cheating, and if I was playing him I'd notice it since I would want to know the number of sticks in the pile before playing, and know that's something up if I lost even though I know how to play.
That's why I prefer an advanced version of this game, where it's not as important to cheat to win.
