Twenty-four years after Argentina invaded the Falkland Islands, the scars still run deep. Britain spends approximately €150 million a year defending this windy outpost.

"Argentineans have a deep obsession with the Falklands Islands. It's like the Jews with Jerusalem", explains Esteban Hubner. He's visiting the islands for the first time with Falklands veteran Sergio Delgado. But Islanders are still bitter about the invasion. "I was furious. How dare they come and invade us!" states Trudi McPhee. Previously, Argentina offered the Islanders financial incentives to recognise its sovereignty. Now it's taking a much harder line. "They're putting pressure on us in every possible way, interfering with the fisheries and flights", complains McPhee. Fortunately for her, Britain has no plans to withdraw.

Too funny! BANKRUPT England, with a GDP to debt ratio that would make the Greek's blush, pours 150 billion pounds into defending these islands.......well I say, go knock yourselves out. How much money do the English pour into support the Royal Welfare Family? How money does the English taxpayer pay into "Royal-ties" to the Royals for wind farms? ...and still more money goes to support criminal banksters in London!

The only benefit to YOU will be if you are a shareholder of Desire Petro & Rockhopper Ex....got any shares? ...or if you are a shareholder or bondholder in the majors that will assume control of the project.....got any? Only more cost to the taxpayers!

@feindhortmit Too funny! The English built Canada??? You're forgetting that Champlain & Cartier (French) and John Cabot (Italian) explored Canada before English explorers. The French settled Canada in mass long before the English!

Talk to anyone who lived in Toronto before 1950 & many of those folks travelled to Buffalo as it was a superior city. It wasn't until Italian's began coming over in mass that Toronto improved significantly. The English did great job of screwing the aboriginal's!

Perhaps Canada helpd the U.K. out during the war because the British built our country for us. I've always felt that we owed the British for giving us such a swell country.

I'm a proud Canadian but do you really think that Canada, even with its huge war effort, saved Great Britain? The British saved themselves in the Battle of Britain long before the USA or USSR entered the war.

Did I mention the mineral wealth under the Antarctic? The British, among others, have a claim on that too. That'll be another future source of wealth for the U.K. The Falklands are required for when that day comes.

Oh, I'm sure that the Scots, Welsh and Irish will be glad to hear you don't hate them.

But keep in mind Scotts, Welsh, Irish as well as English solidiers will kill more Argies should they be stupid enough to start another war.
