A DC-3 that was on static display at Rockford air fest. Then on sunday as I was moving to the exit, I saw it being prepared for flight. SCORE! Bummer they took off on the OTHER runway.

  • I flew this DC-3 in Alaska from 2001 -2003 for Era Aviation as well as its sistership, 1944M Spirit of the North. Both were sold to Courtesy Aircraft in 2005 and flown to Rockford, IL. 1944M was sold to a gentleman in California (William Lyons I believe) and 1944H is still in Rockford. Era operated sightseeing tours in these two aircraft from 1995-2003. Brings back great memories. :)

  • @dc31830 Thank you for the information. I have not checked on this video for awhile as I have had my head up my own exhaust pipe dealing with health issues. I am making videos again and checking out subscribers and commenters. So, it's a local aircraft! I thought it was visiting from out of town. I guess it was taking folks up for joyrides.

  • Nice video. I saw this aircraft in 2001 up in Alaska, and flew on its sister ship on a tour around Denali. Quite a memorable flight. I was wondering what had happened to these aircraft, since I know the flightseeing tours were discontinued after 9/11.

  • @Charles802 Thank you, glad you liked it. I'm jealous of your flight!
