Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has signed a deal to hand over his powers under an agreement brokered by the Gulf Co-operation Council.
The deal signed on Wednesday, will see Saleh leave office in 30 days, making way for Abdrabuh Mansur Hadi, the Yemeni vice-president, to negotiate a power transfer with the opposition in return for a promise of immunity from prosecution.
Al Jazeera's Stephanie Dekker reports.

im a yemeni and i knew ALi abdulah saleh more then all those CIA agents. Ali saleh is the only Alqeada in yemen. he be paying off some of his supporters to do some terrorist acts and bombing so he can stay in power as an "anti-terrorist" president. he finance Al-qeada with millions of dollars and i can't believe the AMerican govn't trusted him on the war on terrorism though there waS no such thing as terrorism

It's not properly over yet. A lot of his people and family still occupy important positions at the top.

I'm sceptical until I see him leave properly. However, this is some hope at least. Here's to hoping he will leave and Yemen will become a proper democracy! (:
