Ravenstein is a fortified town with around 3500 inhabitants, situated on the River Meuse in the province of North Brabant in the Netherlands. It belongs to the municipality of Oss. The town is a member of the Dutch Association of fortified towns.
Ravenstein was founded in 1360 by Walraven van Valkenburg, vassal of the Duke of Brabant, who at that time, had built a castle on the banks of the Meuse.
In the vicinity of the castle came the town of Ravenstein, which has already received city rights in 1380 by Reinout van Valkenburg.
In 1522 the city was fortified with walls and bastions. Already in 1543, Charles V, removed these defensive works, with the exception of the city gates. Two of them were retained.
The city has a historic center. The canals are the centerpiece of a beautiful park.
Harmony of this beautiful video is marvellous combined with great music. Video left me good feeling.
