Field stripping the Norinco M14s rifle. This guide could most likely be used for springfield M1A rifles as well as they should be almost exactly the same. If this is not the case, post a comment and let me know and I will edit the description.

  • It's somewhat difficult to hear what your saying over the soundtrack

  • @hailholyghost

I apologize for that. When I was editing the video I had the option to lower the background music throughout the whole video. It was either this video or another that the music was lowered only through a small portion of it, and not the rest or vice versa (been a while). When I do more future videos the music will be kept at a bare minimum, as in you can barely hear it, if I choose to have music at all for that matter.

    Thanks for watching!

  • Much obliged for the fine video. Waiting on a Socom 16 and will now know how to break it down when it arrives. Any advice on breaking in/lubricating new usgi mags? Heard some using WD-40 and then blowing out with compressed air, but I'm leery of using a penetrating oil around primers... Anyhow, thanks again.

  • @45CaliberCure

The primers on modern cartridges are sealed very well, the whole purpose of the modern cartridge was to make it much more resistant to the elements. YOu can leave cartridges in a bucket of water for a day and they'll fire just fine.

Point being, WD40 or CLP or any gun oil on the friction points of the mag (all around the follower but not on it) will be enough lubrication for a long long time. Just don't lube rounds, bad idea.

  • Great vid! Do you clean and grease the op-rod spring or do you leave it dry?

  • @sportsornothin

I would, I would use white lithium grease, really good stuff for guns. Whatever you have should work, helps keep the action that much smoother.

Thanks for helping us understand this fine rifle a little more.

  • such a Simple gun

    I like it

  • @StickerMedia Hope you got it :D At the back end of the charging handle slot and back end of the bolt area you should see a small notch in the upper end of the guide slot. The spring should be out first but you pull all the way back, then when you feel it cross the notch you pull up and back. It will take some jiggling but eventually you get it so it pops right off. It wil take a few tries to feel out the notch. If you STILL cant get it off, go to the armorer you bought it from.
