@cliffkant Thanks for that! That makes the song just that much more moving.
I'm becoming a missionary and my wife and I are trying to find a place to minister to. I'm really burdened for India.

So sad & sick that such an very old & horrorible LIE like the Caste system can be left in tact. The Dalits are more "human" than the others if you were to compare all without their precious money & education & SIMPLY being born "lucky". How could any group think that God will approve of this?
GREAT SONG!!!... thanks Caedmon's Call & agincourt21!!!

God loves the poor and needy and will punish those who oppress them.
That is why God's son was sent into this world,
That is why he died on a cross to take away sin.
Jesus loves you.

Did you not understand the line "God made EVERY man forward and free" Yes, the song is reaching out specifically to Dalits, but it speaks of a freedom greater than politics that is for every human created in the image of God. Freedom that you can have as well. :)

The only way the Dalit can be free and strong is for them to reject all forms of hindu doctrine which has left them resigned to their "karmic" fate as untouchables since the dawn of India.
Education in self worth is infinitely more valuable than any food or health aid anyone could give but it's a great start.

There is truth to what you say about some Christian groups seeking to have a number of converts to boast about. Sadly many of that faith have given that impression. There are poor in every country, and yes even in America. However our poorest are rich compared to the poor in India. Humanity is not reserved for one nation, no humanity is world wide and knows no nationality.
