The Ramayana consists of 24,000 verses in seven chapters (called Kandas) and is extremely popular on only in pracitsing Hindus in India but Buddhist and Jain in India, and also Indonesian, Philippine, Thai, Lao, Burmese and Malay. Shata Shloki Ramayana is written in Sanskrit language using a 32-syllable meter called anustup.
Shata Shloki Ramayana starts as a conversation between sage Valmiki and Narada. Valmiki asking Sage Narada about the perfect person that ever existed in this earth with all great qualities. Then Narada proceeds to explain Rama's story in the following sequence.

2. Ayodhya Kanda: the preparations for Rama's coronation and his exile into the forest.
3. Aranya Kanda: the forest life of Rama and the kidnapping of Sita by the demon king Ravana.
4. Kishkindha Kanda: meeting of Hanuman with Rama, the destruction of the vanara king Vali and the coronation of his younger brother Sugriva to the throne of the kingdom of Kishkindha.
5. Sundara Kanda: heroism of Hanuman, his flight to Lanka and meeting with Sita.
6. Yuddha Kanda: the battle between Rama's and Ravana's armies.
7. Uttara Kanda: Rama's coronation to the throne of Ayodhya, and Rama's final departure back to Vaikuntha.
