Schroeder was not based on Beethoven, just made to love him. Schroeder originally had no distinguishing characteristics at all until Charles Schultz got the idea to incorporate Meredith's (his daughter) toy piano into the strip. He was originally going to make Schroeder obsessed with Brahms, but then decided Beethoven sounded funnier.
