Terje Rypdal, Jon Christensen and Sveinung Hovensjø in a live recording in NRK studio, doing a radio special in 1974. This tune was also on the repertoire in the early Odyssey days.

  • de lo 'ntelletto, e fieti manifesto

  • I´m the 7777 listener....

  • Very beautiful ! Splendid !

  • I agree...it was a dark stormy night when i first heard this on Harvard's WHRB radio station...it was a "Terje Rypdal Orgy", sometime around 2005...I was mesmerized and moved...went out and bought all his old stuff and he has been an influence of mine on guitar ever since..a haunting Norwegian guitarist w/ great chops (for the time), a wide harmonic sensibility and flat out ability to jam

  • One of my favorite tracks EVER, and to discover it's a live recording! Thank you so much for finding and posting this. (the tempo is just a hair slow though).

  • @buchananstreet I bought it! And several others, including "What comes After" and "Descendre, which both have some beautiful tracks. Truth is, very few people have been exposed to this music, and sadly, even if they were, they wouldn't be able to appreciate it. Some of us are blessed/cursed with ears that crave something more than nursery-rhyme level tunes and crutch-level rantings. Don't worry, there's still a few of us left who ain't entirely stupid! All the best!

  • 私の和音センスの基づけとなったアルバム。 The album which shook my harmonic sense at the very core.

@buchananstreet It is "jem" only few can either have access to it or appreciate it. ;)

  • this is from the record WHENEVER I SEEM TO BE FAR AWAY - disastrously underrated in music history, this probably is one of the most fascinating pieces of music ever, ever made. I wonder how many hundreds of pieces this masterwork only sold whilst lady gaga is selling her crap by the billions. ain´t humankind stupid ??!

  • superb! i've been a fan of Terje Rypdal since the early 70s & it's great hearing another version of this piece.

  • Jon Christensen and Sveinung Hovensjø one great rhythm section. Terje was listening to Miles Davis a great deal in the early 1970s and it can be heard in this music. I also enjoy viewing the art work of Edvard Munch while llistening to Terje. I can really feel the icy CHILL of Norway listening to Terje Rypdal while viewing Edvard Much's art work. Two great Norwegian artist from two very different time periods.
