  • Generally, it is said blood pressure is taken on the left hand side because the blood pumps out of the heart down the Aorta starting on the left hand side.

    However the difference is negligible, so whilst students are taught the left hand side it is something that should not dominate your method of measurement.

    In this case the person doing the demonstration has had an injury on their left hand side predisposing to measurements being taken on the right.

  • You are using it on the right hand. This is incorrect. Blood pressure should always be taken on the left.
