I think it sounds great for just one mic and I just have a TLM 02 on the way, so this video was a nice finding. Then again it seems that the drummer is the best part of the equation. I've done better recordings with three miss than a full mixed kit and mostly because of the drummer.

@darklotusfaygo Why would Led Zeppelin record with only three drum microphones, two of which were only pointed at the kit? Sounded like shit didn't it? Oh no, it didn't? They sounded great?
Shut the fuck up if you have no idea what you're talking about, kthxbai. You don't need to close mic every drum, every time, for every song, for every band. Some of the greatest drum sounds on records ever produced were done with the most minimalist micing techniques.

for the price of that mic, u could have got a 7 mic pack and 2 new cymbals

did you place the 102 above or in front of the kit? With a large diaphragm mic many times you can get a better overall image and balance by placing the mic a few feet in front of the kit
