Eternally glorious. Thanks.

@LordMgls: I also think so !

@tomfroekjaer Lyrical or more baritonal 1910s are all stunning and better than any other singers' renditions.

@LordMgls: I did not realize that it was posted before I finished my comments :-)
But I agree with you: the lyrical 1904 Caruso is untouched in this aria !

"Many have uploaded this legendary Caruso version"
Many great minds think the same: Caruso rules over Una furtiva lagrima!

Much has been discussed over the comparative merits between this earlier version and the 1911 remake, yet one thing is certain, Caruso's rendition reigns supreme among all recorded performances of the aria. This transfer serves to enhance his supremacy. Many thanks for posting.

@dantitustimshu: thank you, Timothy - and you are very welcome. I also think that the Caruso 1904/1911 renditions (... those we are left with) rank amongst the most intense versions of this wonderful aria that Mankind can be proud of.

Could someone theoretically own rights to an old recording if they were responsible for the remastering?

@amalek80: no, I'm quite certain about that. The original recordings are not subject to copyrights - I forget which year the (US) law was implemented, but they are NOT subject to copyrights.
