@Seeyourarm FFXI has an incredible story, with gripping cinematics and unbelievably cool boss fights. Everything leads up to the bosses - you don't simply run an instance to kill faceless fools and roll for loot. The story plans around all the enemies you'll have to fight. Granted, there aren't any gameplay mechanics such as WoW's "avoid green goop or the whole team dies," but in fairness the combat isn't designed for that.

@Seeyourarm The community used to be great when the game was immensely popular. Linkshells have almost become like gangs now with there being so fewer players on each server. The game itself is great. But if you dislike repetition, avoid this game. All MMORPG's before World of Warcraft were extremely repetitive and demanded many hours to accomplish simple goals. Hell, back in 2007 I waited two hours just for a party in FFXI - and they didn't always work out!

General question for anyone who has played FFXI:

I've played Final Fantasy games all my life (7, 8 and 9 being my favorites) and i'm wondering whether to try out this game, i've been playing WoW for like 4 years now and i'm bored to death of all the annoying kids and just general dicks that inhabit it, along with now finding the game repetitive itself, doe's this game support a good community or at least friendly people? along with some good gameplay, thanks.
