Thank God that economists don't make policy, because they don't feel the pain of normal Americans. I'm so glad that such down to earth people are running the show. They only make $165,200 a year (minimum). They can really feel my pain.

Btw, the median economist salary in the private sector is about $107,000. Slightly less when you count the public sector.

Economists are not saying that the public does not need relief. They are saying that removing the tax would not provide relief!

Menendez is on the banking committee, trying to "make it safe for NJ. " He should lose his job next election.

If only economists made public policy. I would rather have peopel who understand Economics working on a solution to this financial turmoil than a bunch of lawyers whose time horizon goes beyond the next election day. Actually if economists were running things we would not even be in this mess in the first place because they would not have imposed demands on lenders to lend to people who cannot pay their mortagages.

Not listening to economists has gotten us a half-trillion-dollar budget deficit, entitlement programs we cannot hope to pay for, federal grant programs that have turned into open-ended pork barrels, costly regulations, and a borrow-and-spend mentality that can look no further than the next election cycle.

Senator Menendez - the employment picture in NJ does not exist. You appear to be supporting the WTO, NAFTA and keep talking about long term change. WELL - the citizens cannot buy into it and have suffered with depletion of Constitutional rights and Liberty. That's not what he was incinuating. He was saying that economists should be used to look at economic abstracts. Whole other sets of skills are required to make pulic policy, using economic abstracts is a vital tool in that set but the creation whole should be done by somebody with a broader set of tools than economists.
