thumbs up if you think democrats are stupid and are all on food stamps, crack or they are queer

I think it was Roosevelt that came up with dlst another crazy idea the democrats came up with that we have to endure for no reason other than the republicans are too weak to expose the public to the truth and overturn every crazy idea that the government comes up with to see how crazy of stuff we will put up with push for the TEA PARTY and the FAIR TAX

Now this is funny. Funnier still is just this--my wife doesn't like Daylight Savings Time, and thus should like this song. However, she likes banjos even less_ than DST, so she really wouldn't like this song just because of Grandpa's banjo, or "bainjer," as he would have called it.

@HiWayLady49 You're saying it yourself; "the extra daylight". Thus an hour less of using electricity. Quite simple in my opinion.

@greenwich1754 I would be quite happy to live a self supporting life. I think I'd make a very sexy Neanderthal.

well ben had some great ideas for his time, but wow time has past

@lndrzbm Saving an hour of electricity will save the environment? Somehow I think the environment will be ok with or without our help. I'm not into the wanton plundering of our resources, but too many moon bat ideas about how to "save the planet/environment" have come up in the past few years. How about shutting down capitalism /manufacturig all together. We MIGHT have a better environment, but we could live like Neanderthals.

I think we all realize the purpose for DST. The thing is that farmers are always up before dawn anyway. As to saving energy, what's the diff in burning lights 'before' sunrise or after sunset. An 8 hour workday is still and 8 hour day. Two hours before work, four hours after work If I have to get up before the sun, lights are on. So I'm not seeing it. Granny said the extra daylight was for golfing business men. More time on the green. LOL

im reading these comments and am a bit shocked by the aversion to DST. For those who not know; it's to save an hour of using electricity (and thus the environment). So im even more surprised the aversion comes from farmers as well, since theyre all about environment (id like to think). to me having the sun set at 10pm in summer (in the Netherlands at least) has just as much of a summer feel than the warm weather.

Benjamin Franklin thought it up...
I lived on a farm as a kid. The cows used to wait for me early in the morning when I went out to milk. But when DLST came about....I had to wake them up. Even they thought it was a dumb idea. Now I'm retired and don't have to live by the clock...but in the summer when folks call me and if I'm not up by their time...I must be a lazy lay about. I'm thinking about turning off land lines and cell phones...I already threw away the clock. LOL

I agree with Grandpa Jones. This is a good song making fun of a stupid idea! Moving the clocks around twice a year is one of the most idiotic ideas ever thought up!
