One of the least discussed aspects of a powerful golf swing is the weight shift that occurs prior to commencing the downswing. Transferring weight onto your left side (for right handed players) before the body uncoils clears your body out of the way making room to swing down and thru the golf ball. If you tend to hit behind the ball or tend to hit the ball thin, chances are that your weight remained on your back foot. Just like any other sport where you are propelling a ball forward, there is a clear and defined weight shift onto the lead leg before the ball the thrown. Do you throw a fastball off your back foot? Your contact with the ground will tell you if you have transferred properly or not. Watch where my club makes contact with the ground - almost in front of my left foot.
