@DutchieKev it could be the amount of calls on the box so dispatch put in the whole assignment or first unit on scene asked to fill out the box meaning get all first alarm units responding in
Is it standard procedure that so many fire trucks respond to a alarm, even if they don't know for sure if there is a fire? (don't know for the situation in the movie, just asking).
These guys from Ladder 10 and Engine 10 are some of the biggest dudes I have ever seen.We had an alarm go off under the raised floor in computer room.My mgr didn't want to look for the floor plunger to lift the tiles.BTW,these tiles weigh about 50lbs.Anyway the fireman says oh you can't find the tile plunger? OK,we will take care of it next thing I know I see an axe go flying and he breaks the tile in half. All of a sudden my mgr found the plunger.

@DutchieKev Yeah, because if there is a fire they already have the apparatus they need and dont have to tone out again for more trucks.

Real federal "Qs" are banned in NYC this is why some houses use the EQ2B which is the electronic version.
The real federal is considered a mechanical siren it utilizes moving fins to generate the sound.
