Which day is the Christian Sabbath? Sunday? Or is it Saturday? Did Jesus authorize the change of the Sabbath from the seventh day of the week to the first day? Did His disciples do it?
In The Seventh Day, host Hal Holbrook takes viewers back across the centuries to uncover the history of the Sabbath. This five-part documentary video series traces the evidence of ancient records as found in the archives and libraries of international scholarship.
The story of the change of the Sabbath is enriched by the testimony of fifty historians and theologians from around the world. Together they provide a careful exposé of the epic battle over the biblical Sabbath.
The Seventh Day, illuminates the heroic struggle for religious liberty, fought through long centuries of inquisition and repression. It offers a surprising look at history that raises new questions about the rhythm of life here in the 21st century -- and beyond.

the term commandments does not necessarily refer to the ten. john tells us that loving others and believing on the name of Jesus are commandments as well. Neither of which are in the 10.

  • @Myhopeisinhim Of Course they are and if you read Mark 12:28:31 we see that Jesus speaks about the same thing ! In the Ten Commandments the first 4 commandments (Exodus 20 :1-11) is for us to love our God and the next 6 commandments (Exodus 20:12:17) is for us to love our neighbours !!

  • @Myhopeisinhim Ceremonial law were rules which concerned the sacrificial offerings, circumcision and typical feasts pointing forward to Christ. God did not speak these things directly to the people. He gave them to Moses to deliver to them.God did not write them at all. Moses wrote them. They were not engraven on stone but written in a book and that book was not placed inside the Ark but it was placed in pockets in the sides of that Ark. Notice this text now in Deuteronomy 31:24-26

  • @Myhopeisinhim If Messiah only gave us one commandment, all writers would have mentioned it, but it would have been a violation of Torah thereby making him NOT be the Messiah (because he would not have led a sinless life by violating Deuteronomy 4:2). Besides, He didn't say it was a "neos" commandment (brand new), but a "kainos" commandment (renewed, like the moon every month). And It isn't a new commandment anyway, it is the basis for the entire torah - Leviticus 19:18.

  • For example if you forgive someone, you are showing love to them...even though something may be related doesn't mean IT IS that something. You are denying the truth of the matter that there are more than just ten commandments, just so that when you see verses with the term "commandments" that you can interpret it to be the ten.

Read my comment over, you can try to tangle with it any way you want, but simple fact of the matter is there are more than just 10 commandments in the bible, believing on the name of his Son Jesus Christ is one of them..and don't try to tell me that is one of the ten commandments because it's not.

The entire law is related to each other, but each commandment is separate and on it's own. You can follow the command to love when you do something entirely unrelated to the ten.

Have you ever done a search on what the phrase, "the law and the prophets" is referring to and what the scriptures reveals it to mean? Or are you going based on what your church has said?

  • @Myhopeisinhim Luke 16:17 is reffering Only to the Ten Commandments !!! If you read Romans 10 :4 there you find that Jesus abolished the ceremonial law (Law of Moses) by his death .

  • @AM5743

As for Luke 16:17, you do realize that the term law is not referring solely to the ten commandments, but the entire law of God, which was the book of the law. Nothing in the book could pass until all be fulfilled.

  • @AM5743

Do you remember why Moses went up the mountain? And why God stopped talking to the people? Was it because he finished saying what he wanted to say, or was it for another reason?

Also, the entire book was considered to be the law of God. One just happened to be the words of the covenant, while the other was the book of the covenant which was left outside the ark so it was a visible witness against the people and it had the ten commandments written in it twice.

  • sabbath, by all means:) But to deny that they have changed to a spiritual nature of what Christ accomplishes in you through his precious blood is to deny the purpose of the law which was to foreshadow the works of Christ that he would perform in you, and for you.
