  • Thanks for sharing your story im so sorry that happened to you. I'm 22yrs still havent come out to my family, they are christian and i dnt know what will happen if i do tell them the truth.

  • @zazu1b There are some great resources out there. I myself came from a pretty non-gay friendly family. But almost everyone opened up to the idea once I came out. I think things are different if it hits close to home. But what matters is when your ready. So don't let anyone push you into doing something you don't want to do. And until that time, live life and have fun.

  • Really amazing video. Thanks so much for making it. I'm trying to get as many of my friends to make these as I have, but if not, at least pass them along. I'll definitely be sharing yours among those I know.

  • @FotoCub Thats good, these videos really create awareness.I know that night when I pulled the trigger I felt all alone. Felt that no one else understood what I was going through. And I feel these videos will provide that support for other people. Yeah if you want to pass mine around that's totally fine. The more that see it the bigger difference I've made.

  • Thanks for all the kind words. By the way LisaMitchellable, that was really pretty.

  • I am so glad you got through your darkest days Rick. Sounds like you are an amazing person. It takes a lot to accept oneself as we are made, but it shouldn't and with this 'It Gets Better' movement, and a bit of maturation of society, it will become as accepted as being left handed or red headed, or gay.. I'm all three!

  • This is amazing. You're an amazing person too, I think it's awesome. A gay person who accepts themself, and who also has a great personality. I'm a lesbian, coming out was never hard for me, most of the people I know are very gay-friendly [: So I've never had anyone bully me, (though I do feel like bullying is worse for gay guys rather than lesbians, which I find totally ridiculous) with exceptions of a few minor times...But your story really touched me. So thankyou. [:

  • damn, i wishh I could accept myself the way you do. your so strong. its amazing. I have said some pretty crewl words to others before and i cant help but to regret it now. what thoes people did was horrible. stayy strongg.

  • Hey Rick I just watched your it gets better video! Wow it was a real eye opener. And what a powerful story and sad one to. It makes me want a better relationship with my kids. As a parent I can tell you that the thought that my son would think that things were so bad in his life that he would commit suicide is terrifying !! I definitely will work on being a better parent and trying not to judge him and just be there for him. Thanks for the powerful message and for sharing your story

  • I've watched a few of your videos and you've got a great personality. You've got some great things to say. I lost my younger brother to suicide. I've watched quite a few of the It Gets Better videos but yours if pretty powerful. It sticks in the mind. Keep the videos coming...

  • Rick I was really touched by this. When I was your age I felt much the same sometimes. It took me far too long to come out - till I was 32 - but I have never looked back since. I have a wonderful partner and we have been together nearly 20 years, and we had a Civil Partnership under Uk law in 2006. We're open to everyone and have never had any problems. Even if some folks find these things hard to accept, it's their problem not ours.

  • Brave, strong people like yourself always win in the end, bullies loose because they are filled with negative energy and hatred. Nothing good comes out of hatred.

  • I've managed to get a few friends to repost your video. Glad to see you've had such great response. If you have a chance, check out mine. I was at a bit of disadvantage when I was younger in that the Internet was not really prevalent. Do you think that helped you at all, having that as a resource? Or was it just another place to hear conflicting voices?

  • Thanks for doing this and for all those kids who fear that coming out will mean the loss of love and caring from your parents for the most part they don't . They love you and though they may not understand...it gets better for all of you and you are not alone out there.

    Peace!

  • @YesWayItsRick Your sweet thanks bro! I appreciate your kind words.

  • glad your still here!!
