I thought that was the liberal value system. "Here I am! Take care of me! You owe me money because I exist!" And frankly, i think an uneducated farmer could do a better job than 99% of politicians. Its not selfish to want the government out of your life. Its selfish to force people who dont want to, to pay for other peoples problems. If you want to eat 6 big macs a day, go ahead, but i'm not paying for your heart surgery.

When did I ever try to claim that it was the government's responsibility to "give everyone what they want and desire"? I believe in ensuring that all have the tools they need to be productive, and one of those tools is decent physical and mental health.

It's YOU who are opposed to ensuring access to these tools for all, most likely because you're afraid it will result in making it more difficult to for you to get "everything (you) want and desire."

You assume all these things about me as if you know me and how I view the world.

And my idea would be a completely voluntary thing for the doctors. They dont have to do it. However, if they do, they get tax relief. When youre taxed 30% of everything you make, having some relief is sometimes better than a paycheck.

BlackSand, you'd be screaming bloody murder if all the doctors were too busy doing charity care to take care of YOU. And it isn't your business to decide what kind of "tax relief" is best for doctors, or how (or whether) they should provide charity care. It's rather obvious that you're only trying to spare yourself inconvenience and expense. I have no use for hypocrites who brag about being patriots....but then refuse to lift a finger to keep this great nation (and its people) great.
