This was my first attempt at building a smoker, based mostly on tips and instructions from Mark at smokinhornsbbq. It was a lot of fun, but took quite a bit longer than I expected. You feel like once you get the door working on the smoke chamber that you're almost done, but that's just the beginning.

One correction in the video - the firebox is a 25 GALLON tank - or 100 pounds for LP. I mistakenly called it a 25 POUND tank a couple times.

All welding was done with a 110 v Mig. Other tools included a chop saw, grinder, drill, drill press, etc. Pretty basic. I used Mapp gas in a torch to heat the rod and bend it.

  • Love the video. Keep them coming. I'm watching the smokinhorns videos now, but love how yours turned out. I've got a 60 gallon tank I'm about to start myself, so this is perfect for some more ideas. Thanks and great job.

  • @texasvaquero Thanks. It was a lot of fun to build, and I'm sure you'll have fun, too. Mark (smokinhornsbbq) was incredibly helpful and responsive to questions during the process. I barely finished it before my first hunting season, so haven't used it on meat yet. But now I've got some bear and elk meat to try in it!

  • @hag730: The propane is only used to get the logs started. While you could fuel it entirely with propane, it's intended to be a wood-fired smoker.
