Didn't work for me! I used the exact same Philip's cleaner as you on my 2009 MacBook Pro and it wouldn't play the cleaning track. I recently added 'Burn' program to my computer for making DVD's so I thought maybe it changed my Library Prefs. I copied my Preferences folder to my desktop then logged out and back in to rebuild my Preferences folder. That didn't work either. Finally, got a can of air, stuck the plastic tip into the slot an inch and blasted it moving across the slot. NOW WORKING!!!
I have the Memorex CD/DVD cleaner and yours looks a lot better than mine. Those brushes look serious where mine has a few wimpy looking wisps of thread looking stuff. I have to run the disk many, many times (upwards of five times sometimes) to get it to clean. On my Mac Mini where I never use the drive I just kept sticking the disk in over and over again for like 30 mins before it started reading it. A month later is stopped reading disks again.
i have the same exact mac but mine wont accept certain CDs ad black dvds... like it wont take the restore CD

Thanks for the tip... but could you possibly tell us what serial number
is on the cleaning disc? There seem to be several versions of Philips
lens cleaners and some sites I've seen them on say ' not suitable for
slot loading drives'
I have an iMac which obviously has a slot loading Superdrive.
I don't want to buy the wrong thing! Thanks.
