The Last Season stands as the singular testament to not just a landmark but to an era where sports, like the players, were accessible to a city in a way no longer possible.

By weaving stories told by sports heros with recollections from the salt of the earth faithful fans, this 72 minute documentary reflects the passions and rowdiness of a stadium where you could bring in your own beer, and the cheers emanated from the fans, not from a prompting scoreboard. This collectors' edition is an ideal gift for anyone with their heartstrings still attached to 33rd Street.

  • So Memorial Stadium was a child of necessity over its years, with some lousy sightlines in places (lower deck posts and an invisible endzone for some in the upper deck), and some reconfigurations now and then. In the later years it bordered on dump status, but it was OUR DUMP, not some tourist attraction for Yankees and Red Sox fans. The game, and nothing else, was the thing on 33rd street.

  • I'm a Yankees fan up here in NY and i know how it feels now. I hate to see these relics destroyed only because they don't have enough luxury boxes for the fat cats.

RIP Memorial, Comisky, Tiger, and now Yankee Stadium.

  • I think it's funny how the black dude at the end said "if Yankees stadium, even though I'm not a fan of them, was about to be torn down id be the first to say no." were were you when they did?

  • how heart breaking

  • I loved this place. It was heaven.

  • @Ninety2q I liked Three Rivers. Glad I got to see it.

  • I am heading down in a month.. I heard the made a new mini stadium there.. Wonder how accessible it is to get on the field.. Going to at least stop by.

  • @Ninety2q That's because the Vet, Three Rivers, and Riverfront in Cincinnati were cookie cutter stadiums with Astroturf and no personality.

  • the inscription was for war dead not athletes...

  • They should have let her be a Baltimore monument: a place where city high school football games are played, and for other miscellaneous uses. It's strange riding up 33rd St and not seeing her there! It

  • Sie sollten eine Statue des Unitas bei Lucas haben Öl zu , und obwohl er did'nt spielen für Indy, seine Nummer im Ruhestand ist .
