Just a quick video to show that the Vaio SA is very much capable of gaming, if you can stand the fan noise. :) Please excuse my hand blocking the bottom of the screen, I don't game on my laptop often, so I don't have a mouse specifically for my laptop.

Everything was played at 1600x900 resolution, but default settings on everything else. I don't really bother maxing out settings personally as I don't see the difference, especially on this 13" screen.

I didn't have an FPS counter, but you can see that it's perfectly smooth anyway, although for Minecraft, it was between 60 - 70fps. On the integrated card, it goes down to 30fps with occasional hiccups. Playable, but I personally can't stand it, haha. :)

My Vaio SA specs:
i7-2620m @ 2.7GHz
6GB RAM
AMD Radeon 6630M

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)

  • Is the fan really that annoying? i'm planning on buying this, but the fan sounds extremely loud..

  • @Cire408 Super late reply, but in regular use, the fan isn't loud at all. Sometimes it flares up for no reason though (probably a background process, I guess).

  • Hey does anyone know how he plays minecraft without crashing and it says "Your display driver has stopped responding but has sucessfully recovered" and i have the same specs as he does

  • @Xryan1112x With one of the latest driver updates, that happens to me too. :( As you can see, this video was made months and months ago.

I'm not sure if you can downgrade your graphics driver, but for now, all we can do is hope that Sony releases a fix.

  • Thanks for the video Mz. Rainbow. If only you had an i5, as I think that's what I'm gonna snag. (i7 type money's out of my budget in an ultraportable, haha)

  • @Tinytacohead Hi there, late reply again. The i5 wasn't an option for me (living in NZ, laptops tend not to be very customisable) and from what I've heard, i7 isn't really that huge a step up from the i5.

If you've already bought it, I hope you're liking it! :D

  • just ordered an i5 13'3" S series ... hopefully made a right decision ... YAY Cant wait !! :)

  • @GamingRainbow Thanks man, hopefully I'll be ordering mine in about a week. Do you find such a high resolution on a small screen makes some game text etc. harder to read or anything along those lines and/or does stuff tend to still look good if ya bump the res down? That's one thing I'm a little worried about, as my current 17" laptop's only 1440x & it seems like a good combination.

  • @GamingRainbow Thanks for the help GamingRainbow and i hope sony fixes it.

  • @Tinytacohead Gee... no, what are earphones? I expected much better sound out of a $1000+ laptop from Sony. With that price tag, we shouldn't need to buy speakers/earphones also. Considering HP's 11" *NETBOOK* plays louder, fuller sound at $400, Sony dropped the ball. The screen (viewing angles/contrast) and mouse are also less than impressive. But overall I am still VERY happy with my i7 SA (great Black Friday sale), even if I did have to buy external speakers.
