I use a large file sending service rather than splitting files- major hassle, majorly time consuming. I have used quite a few services but Tonsho is by far my favourite (I've sent the largest video files using these guys- 5Gb). You can send from your usual email program or through their website. Free and paid accounts. Search for Tonsho on Google.
