Mercury was a great entertainer and had an amazing voice, but never made his studio money shots live like Perry did. Gramm doesn't have the range these two have, still a fantastic voice. So what if Perry was a perfectionist and a control freak, the band was nothing before, or after, him so he had the right to be demanding. Journey shouldn't be blamed for his departure - they wanted to capitalize on their reunion before the window had closed. Still he's Steve f****** Perry.

  • @fmaxwellable Freddie Mercury was better

  • @ViciousAlienKlown Just admit hat Steve Perry is the best vocalist in this music field that will come along in our lifetime, because he is. I don't care who Lou Gramm is and I don't care if he was a jerk or he fired people or any of that other nonsense you soiled this post with, the point I was making is simply that that is stated above, Steve Perry is the best vocalist in that music genre of his time, if you would like to argue that I would be happy to carry on with you I'm on Youtube a lot.

  • @fmaxwellable You don't know who Lou Gram is? The lead singer from Foreigner and an amazing vocalist. Perry fired member just so he could have a slightly different sound, ruled out other members ideas then just disappeared in the years in between Raised on Radio and Trial By Fire. He got too controlling and no one wanted to be around the jerk.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown You make him seem like he is a bad person and just left. No, he left because he had to have hip surgery. Why he hasn't came back, who knows, but it's his own choice and he probably has a perfectly good reason for it. He is currently working on a new album and Lou Gramm, whoever that is, clearly isn't better than Steve Perry otherwise someone besides you would have heard of him. If you ask a singer if there better than Perry, they say no out of respect. Maybe you should too.

  • @ViciousAlienKlown I agree that Deen does a really nice job. Will agree to disagree on whether his rendition of Mother/Father is better. Prefer the Steve version. But it is the nuances, not just the range, that hit me. Steve co-wrote and was very involved in the production of these songs. He isn't just a nice voice able to hit the notes. The emotion he brings to a performance is amazing. And the sheer length of the sets he did, versus the shortened sets of today is AMAZING.

  • The problem with all these Steve Perry fans is that Steve was the one who left...hes even got an open invitation to come back and perform. Steve is an amazing vocalist but is a douche. You want a great singer who is a great guy? Thats would be Lou Gramm...and he has more range than than Perry. OUCH! LOL

  • @gluchnurse Deen nails this song as well and actually does betetr than Steve on Mother Father

  • This is from the Frontiers tour. This video is from a documentary they did in 1983 called Frontiers and Beyond.

  • @danala1000 I agree...
