@pacattack05 but it also scares me a bit, I don't know why. Those were days when my thinking process was much different than now. So strange feelings come over me whenever I hear this theme song. Very creepy...closest thing to time travel (as we've been told)..

This stuff is gold, and thanks for taking the time in the first place to even tape such a thing when it first came out. I would've never thought 30 years later i'd freak out listening to something some person taped that i forgot about...lol This was a major exclusive ...

Just noticed another ABC promo where you can finally see the cameraman w/ glasses seen in this great promo and the one for 4:30 Movie. Search for: 1970 Promo/Preview "The ABC Movie of the Week"

ahhhhhh.... do you have the bit that played between commercial breaks?

Each time I see this bumper, I feel as though I'm watching the small black and white TV in my bedroom with my 2 brothers back in the 1970s in NY.

@FrightNight7387 - To my knowledge, this type of open was first inaugurated around 1973-'74. The "Moving Pictures" theme music by Joe Raposo first dated to the 1968-69 season, from what I've gauged. (It was the 1968-69 season that the previous "4:30 Movie" logo - plus a design for "The Big Show" as used for WABC's weekday afternoon movies prior to January 1969, and on late Sunday afternoons/early Sunday evenings through 1972 - was first inaugurated.)

Would this intro have been used by WABC-TV in early 1975 for their Saturday late night movie at 11:30? I seem to recall it before an airing of "Night Of The Living Dead" at that time.

@fronio89 Got it on Ebay, probably about the only place you'll find the VHS; the Canadian DVDs are available on Amazon.com

@DanZero77 Yeah and it had Howard Hessman who played Dr. Johnny Fever on "WKRP". How in the world did you find that on VHS ????

I do seem to remember filmed commercials from back then with sound 'punching-in' late. But then again, my films of WNBC-64 and my others all have the splice-click -before- the cut, not after.
And I was under the impression that the timing delay of WABC's 430 and Sat. Nt. Movie anims were the anomalies; not typical for film...
I loved Ants! so much, I'd always make sure to watch it on WABC whenever it was on (that, along with another great 70s insect film "Tarantulas: The Deadly Cargo) I even got a VHS copy of it from Ebay!!!!! It originally premiered on TV around my birthday (December 1977!)

this version of ANTS ran 96-97 mins without commercials. The imdb list the video version with an 88 min runtime and some other one at 100 mins. No idea if any of that is really correct, but I figured it would be info you might like to know

The timing on this open, though with the different title, is how it should have been. If you've seen the actual "4:30 Movie" open as on the web, you'd've seen that the music was moved ahead by about 1.5 seconds; however, the short "4:30 Movie" bumpers had the right video-to-audio timing.
I seem to remember seeing the earlier open with the camera crew, many colors, seated director etc., on the "Saturday Night Movie" and "Sunday Night Movie" (at least) prior to 1973.

@wmbrown6 -- If I am not mistaken, most of the 4:30 opening logos on the web( or the same one just being passed around) was made via a composite of the video from one source and the audio from another.
in my case for this clip I wish I hit the record button a few seconds earlier
