While Croatia was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, many Croatians migrated north, fleeing from the threatening Turkish forces to the south of their homeland. The village of Jevišovka is the central point for Croatians who settled in the Czech Republic. Villagers still gather today to celebrate their traditions in "Kiritov" Festivals.
