For my fellow SAWPers, I have finally finished revising this prompt from our 2009 Summer Institute. I used it to begin the daily journal writing with the question, "What is the thing that you have been meaning to write down, but you haven't taken the time to do it?" It should work just as well in your classrooms, and if you're participating in The Cuentos Project, it is a fantastic introduction to "write it before it's gone".

  • @chandleyk, cool! Thanks for letting me know. I'd love to teach that course someday. It sounds like you've got some fortunate students.

  • I came across this video as I was searching for something to show my College Writing 101 class on their first day and this is perfect! I was a part of the National Writing Project summer institute in Erie, PA. Thanks so much!

  • ^.^ Those really are good motives to write something, I feel inspired now.

    Thank you
