Austin Scott, Georgia's new 8th District U.S. Congressman, has been visiting key businesses and installations in the state, gathering knowledge that will help him with his House committee work in Washington D.C. The Monitor's Rick Treptow reports on the stop he made to Georgia Farm Bureau Headquarters in Macon.

  • How is family farming outdated? What other types of farms are there? Migrant ran? Gov ran? or Industry ran? I am trying to figure out what type of occupation the last post participates in? I would also question the fact that the food the last post eats comes from family farms all across the US even if he eats chicken from a factory, beef from a cattle processor, or veggies in a can...all of these items are grown on a family farm! As for his tax money? I'm sure farmers pay their share!

  • Why does the U.S. continue to believe in the outdated and inefficient principle of family farming. Family farms drain the government in the farm of all kinds of subsidies, loans, and price controls. It is important that we encourage American farming, but I question how family farms fit into that without taking money from taxpayers.
