There are many well-known examples of companies who have used this concept to their advantage. In Canada, a company called The Running Room has become extremely successful catering solely to their #1 Customer Type: runners. At their retail stores and through their web site, they sell running shoes and jogging clothes, facilitate running clubs, give seminars, and sponsor marathon events. The company literally "owns" the relationship with more than two million runners across the country.
