The Center for American Progress Action Fund and John Podesta hosted a forum entitled “National Clean Energy Project: Building the New Economy" on Monday, February 23, 2009 in Washington, DC. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was the Honorary Chair.
The half-day event will brought together a select group of high-level government, business, labor and advocacy group leaders with a focus on developing a plan and key guiding principles to lead the transformation of U.S. energy policy and to reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign oil.
Attendees included President William Jefferson Clinton, Vice President Al Gore, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Senator Jeff Bingaman (D-NM), Representative Ed Markey (D-MA), energy executive T. Boone Pickens, and leaders from government, business, labor, and the non-profit communities.
The National Clean Energy Project builds on the August 2008 “National Clean Energy Summit” sponsored by Senator Reid, CAPAF, the University of Nevada Las Vegas. The participants in the summit concluded that inadequate access to transmission was one of the most significant barriers to widespread development of renewable energy.
This forum focused on modernizing and expanding the electricity grid, integrating energy efficiency and distributed generation into operation and regulation, rapidly increasing transmission capacity for renewable energy, and reducing our nation’s dependence on foreign oil by examining short- and long-term solutions to replace foreign oil with domestic resources to fuel vehicles and trucks, including natural gas.
If we are lucky the plans for Cap and Trade won't be enforced on us. Carbon Credits just pays Gores company for using fuel. How crazy is that plan? Forcing us to accept Cap and Trade will skyrocket our energy costs at a time that we are buckling under the weight of taxes and increased fuel costs. Always follow the money - who is profiting from this new Green Energy Plan? You can bet that Al Gore and company have their hands the pockets of all of the green energy companies.

Sadly, Obama won't be able to reform health care, energy or education. So he's gonna lose all of his political capital there, thus losing in 2012.
So if he will not be re-elected anyway, he should do the ONLY responsible thing he can and unilaterally nationalize the the banks.
