新しい怪獣!!
新しいヒーロー!!
その名は・・・レキラ!!!
This video is my final project at ITT Tech, my "Capstone Project," or my graduation piece, if you will.
Honestly, it was HELL putting this thing together, and you'll notice that I've had a lot of problems putting this short together (for instance, I've caught a nasty cold just as I was completing it).
But it was all worth it.
This short is a test animation of my own Japanese-inspired superhero/monster, Rekira, fighting the giant electric eel monster Chelios.
I had done a lot more preparing than I did any of the animation I wanted. If I had my way, this short would've been somewhat longer and more plot-driven (I had more characters I wanted to use). Along the way, I've had computer problems as well. Just a week before completion, I'd have gotten a new computer from Peter & Tony's friends Grim & Althea (upon a trip to PA last weekend)! I had just finished this film at about 3AM this morning (only starting to recover from my cold), and most of the actual animation was done so last minute. I could've gone back and fixed some details, but I'm pretty proud of the results.
If the action seems a bit funny, it partly is. I'm definitely parodying the action from Japanese superhero programs like the Ultra Series, Masked Rider Series and many others, but in this case, all done by a giant dog-dragon monster!
The Rekira model used is a new one, made with a more humanoid physique, as per my recent edition design. I already had the design for Chelios, though the model for him was done pretty quickly! (I copied Rekira's body and made modifications.) And yeah, I could've added more detail to the cities and stuff. But you have to admit, it still looks pretty cool! (A couple of scenes took 4-6 hours to render!!!)
The music, if some of you can recognize, is from three Tsuburaya shows (ULTRA SEVEN, MIRRORMAN and FIREMAN) composed by Tooru Fuyuki, and the sound FX are from Toho, Toei, Tsuburaya and a bit from BBC. This will give you an idea of the feel of Rekira and his surroundings, regardless of how good or badly my production turned out.
I hope you enjoy this video. I'm glad with how it turned out, though one day, I could do something *much* better.
Now, I can be at peace before graduation. :)
Great work man... keep it coming... I would just spend more time on the colors, but I know how much work is involved and I think you developed your concept really well. Keep up the fight!
