  • Is there any real proof that a low calorie diet will cause you to lose muscle. It seems the body would be smart enough to burn the fat stores before muscle. Seems like millions of years of evolution would want us to hold on to muscle for strength vs burning muscle and making you weak (less likely to survive).

  • @viewingthetube45 Actually are bodies are comfortable being in homeostasis where it stays the same. Muscle is annoying because it costs our body a lot of energy. If we aren't utilizing our muscles our body dumps them- they are costly. Wish it was different. The best evidence for me is not the studies (of which you can find), but the hundreds of clients I've had to fix that have crash dieted and lost significient muscle before seeing me :(

  • 1880 calories! how come you don't loose muscle mass! I've seen the week 9 results and you ARE getting ripped. GREAT!

  • omar, great work. im skinny but at the same time fat if you kno wht i mean. no muscle and a belly. I made the mistake last year of jogging consistently and eating way less. i lost 15 pounds fast but almost none of it was off my belly, but rather mass that i desperately needed. i started eating again and i'm back to normal. should i focus solely on weights and eating a lot to bulk up and THEN lean up, or should i eat maintenence calories, train and do cardio? Im scared of losing good mass again!

  • @asmukkar I was like you, if you look on my website I was skinny-fat and wanted to gain lean muscle, but was also fat. The solution is my fatass to badass program as the intense training will build lean muscle in individuals such as yourself while melting fat off. Trust me, I've been there before ;)

  • You need to do some research. The reason for losing muscle is not forgetting weight training. This is caused by over training. I'm not saying resistance workouts are not important, but cardio is one of the more important things to weight loss

  • @viewingthetube45 prolonged great caloric restriction can make u lose muscle especially when u are not getting enough nutrients. But it depends what u mean by low calorie diet. Just slightly restricting calories to lose weight is fine. Cycling calories is fine (it is what I do actually, I do IF). The crash diet that most ppl go through are terrible though, they barely get enough nutrients as it is n many women can wind up in hospital (my friend actually did).
