  • Wow, the guy on the left was my dad. I've never seen this episode before because we didn't have a way to record the episodes, but the house I grew up in was built with the money from his winnings...YouTube is amazing.

  • PLEASE UPLOAD THE COMPLETE EPISODE OF THIS! I NEVER REALLY SAW ART FLEMING AS "Jeopardy!" HOST!!!

  • Art Fleming gave the answers

Oh but I couldn't get the questions right

  • @PatrioticPirate - 10:30 was actually the national airtime for TPiR back then...it bounced between the 10 and 10:30 slots for its first 4 years as an hour show before permanently moving to the 11 AM slot in April 79.

  • @WhatsAYak Just the time slot shuffling is what messed that up, I think. TThe Price Is Right airs at 1100 in my area, so it would have flourished at that time in this area. The new Let's Make A Deal, airing at 1030, has NO business being yahked/cut short/whatever...

  • @mtoth - You can view the complete episode (recently posted) by doing a search for "Jeopardy 1979 finale", if you wanna see your dad's entire final show.

  • @PatrioticPirate - You can thank NBC for that...after moving the original version from its established noon time slot to 10:30 AM, they moved it again to 1:30 PM just 6 months later. As for the revival, it had too many changes from the original (low scorer eliminated after round 1, Final J! replaced by Super J!, etc.) and tough competition (originally aired at 10:30 AM, opposite the first half of TPiR, then moved to noon, opposite The Young and the Restless).

  • DAMMIT I want someone to explain to me why this show ever came off the air!? This should have been one of the longest continuous TV shows in HISTORY!

  • I tell you what, Art's hosting of he show certainly was different than how Alex hosts Jeopardy! Seems like art read it a lot faster, while Alex carefully anunciates, which of course has been a point of parody for SNL.

  • John Harlan is Like Johnny Olson

    voice

and the art fleming entrance cue is the closing theme

  • I guess NBC must have got rid of the drumroll after 1989 as it used to be heard on "Wheel Of Fortune" until Pat Sajak took the show to CBs,then Sony Syndie after that.I bet NBC destroyed the old Scotch reeltape the SFX were on years ago.Brainy

  • John Harlan was Also the announcer on American Gladiators.
