@darklordojeda I'm not sure exactly. The plan was to strip the hangar and reskin it. But, as usual, they are no "funding" to reskin it. My guess is, they are going to strip it to a skeleton and let it rot. They can't tare it down because of it being a National Land Mark, but they can let it rot until it has to be torn down due to safety. The F-104 and the AH-1 are now on display in our new airpark. If you have a chance swing by and take a look. We're restoring the inside of the P-3 right now.

@hogsandhercs Do you know what NASA's plan is for hangar 1? I see that it's nearly halfway stripped of it's skin. I really hope they plan to restore it rather than destroy it. The restorations on the planes at the museum look great. I've seen the pics of the f-104 and the u-2. I can't wait for them to do the P-3.

@FormerlyFlightsuit Thank you for those kind words. I'm pleased to say that the aircraft at the end of the video are being restored for the Moffett Historical Society. One of the aircraft, the U-2C, is my personal favorite. It was the same aircraft my grandfather worked on in his Air Force days and later at NASA Ames. I along with several volunteers spend many weekends working on these aircraft to help preserve them and to help tell the story of Ames and Moffett.

The song is "Big," by the New Fast Automatic Dafodils."
I grew up here, my grandfather worked there from 71-94 with the NASA High Altitude Missions Branch. I worked at Ames my senior year in high school. Years later was stationed at Moffett while in the Air Force. Looking forward to going back to Moffett eventually. Home Sweet Home

@FormerlyFlightsuit Thank you for the kind words. At the end of your video you can see the tails of the aircraft. I'm please to say that I and a group of dedicated volunteers are restoring all the aircraft in this video and they look fabulous. I was asked due to my background knowledge in the U-2C and this U-2 was the same U-2 my grandfather worked on both in his Air Force career and Lockheed/NASA career I was much obliged to lend a hand.

@hogsandhercs That's very exciting. It's nice that they have those aircraft on display like that. I used to have another video up that gave viewers a look at those, but it somehow got deleted.

@FormerlyFlightsuit One, sorry if it got posted twice but my comment didn't post the first time. Second, yes, it's a great honor to help there. Not sure if you have been by there recently but the aircraft have been moved to hangar 3 where we work on them. Once completed they will be put on display near the MFHS museum near Hangar One. The F-104 and AH-1 Cobra (new addition) will be rolling out VERY SOON!
