  • The one thing I find interesting with this video is the majority of children featured that are in bucket seats are shown with the handles in the upright position. This is a huge safety issue. In a crash the handle is made to collapse and has the potential to puncture the child's lungs. It is both illegal and unsafe to have the handle in the upright position.

  • @nate0406 Actually it depends on the manufacturer. I know Graco allows the handle to be up, and Evenflo does not. Other than that, you should consult your instruction manual.

  • I never knew! I never in my wildest would have thought that the requirements for car seat safety set here in the US werent anything other then the safest possible measures to protect our little ones! If it is so much safer to remain rear facing why havent these standards been reassessed and made known and required!?! This outrages me! My 21 month old son is now happily turned back around in his seat the way he should have been all along, and will remain that way until he reached the weight limit

  • @Wiggletoot You ROCK!!! Mostly for educating yourself and making the best choice for your baby based on your new intelligence. I'm glad I saved a life :)

  • @betosrose I showed her alot of them, He is rearfacing, Im also pregnant, My son/daughter will be rearfacing as well.

  • @KayRenee1998 show her this vid!

  • I can't convince my mom to rearface my brother! :(

  • @nate0406 Some manufacturers actually require the handle to be up in the car. When in doubt read the manual. Heck, read it even if you have no doubt, then get your seat checked by a CPST.

  • Huh. You learn a lot of things when doing research. My niece's car seats were always put in the car front wise, but when I was looking all this stuff up I think I'll have my own kids be rear for as long we can in our little car. Well when I have mine, which is what all this research is for, so I'm ready, hehe.

  • For those commenting on the tightness of the harnesses and the chest clips you are correct they may not be in the correct position but in all of these photos the car is not moving and we do not know if the child had just been put into the car seat or was about to come out!

  • @narissadejanae Read your manual and then read it again. Call Graco. They allow for the handle to be up. Depending on the Graco model, up to 3 positions are allowed in the vehicle. It would only be illegal in a proper use state. I am a CPST in a proper use state and work at an inspection station with police officers. It is not illegal or against the manufacturers' instructions to have the handle up for many infant seats. Educate yourself.

  • @Gagekorbin Yeah I noticed that too. Also, you can't use after market car seat accessories, but some of them had it. :(

  • Thanks for sharing this. I get fussed at all the time by people I know because I try to share facts. My friend's sister had her 1 yr old in a booster seat with a seat belt instead of 5-point harness and the infant in her infant seat forward facing. I simple, and somehow managed to nicely explain how its dangerous. She cussed me out and refused to talk to me for the longest.

My (almost) 2 year old is 36" and still RFing. :D
