I disagree but I thank you for your honest and nonjudgmental answer.

We've been socialized to obsess about race to the point we can't have a normal conversation with people. For ex., my discussing my girlfriend's personal situation at work is perceived as racism because she fired a lazy employee who happens to be Af Am.

The point I was making is sometimes minorities (gay, black, whatever) will play on the stigma given to xenophobia to get what they want.

It's called race pimping.

Yeah.

And I know that there is always going to be racism to some degree and that's unfortunate because a few bad apples who are happy to abuse the system by pimping race ruin the system for majority hard-working minorities.

Gee, ya think? You're European, and not trying to sound rude, but I'm assuming the majority of your exposure to America is through media. Well the media doesn't exactly portray things accurately all of the time. I'm not saying we don't have problems, goodness knows we do, but I'd hardly say we suck....

No actually not. We have/had American soldiers stationed here so I do know quite a few Americans. They refer to going back to America as 'going back to THE WORLD' as if Europe were in outer space

Well I, as I'm sure most Americans, don't feel that Europe is outer space. The soldiers are homesick, though, so you can't really judge them on what they say. I doubt they mean to offend.

I understand that they are homesick. But would it kill them to replace 'world' with I don't know like 'home'.

Well that I don't know. I can't speak for them, but only myself.
