  • @buddastrat I would say just the opposite, it takes a very precise technique to play a clean guitar with no effects, most guitarists who play with overdrive "cheat" by using hammer-ons and pull-offs. guys like Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen have the gain so high they don't even need to use their right hand at all--but my man Johnnie picks EVERY SINGLE NOTE !

  • The grammar of your post is confusing. You do not like the tone. Got it. But he is sloppy? and imprecise? Wow, unplug your ears.

  • Yeah!.. Master Mclaughlin.. I was kind of missing you.

  • Hey be fair Mclaughlin is an adept acoustic player, and for those arguing about his speed the most impressive part of his speed is not his right hand but that he improvises so easily and fluidly at such speed. Anyway I'm a big mclaughlin fan but I thought this was a little half-assed personally,

  • @carlgt1

OK got the album, and it's great, sounds much better than this video clip, so even though the tone on the clip is a bit off, the album sounds great.

  • I love John but that Godin & his FX sound like crap

  • John Mclaughliin rules!

  • @buddastrat takes precise technique to play overdrive?! He's used to acoustic playing? don't be ignorant. Research John McLaughlin and know who he is before commenting.

  • What can I say...great music. I just wish I could be his third drummer!!!

  • Yes, it does look partly scalloped. I have had some custom scalloping done on my Hamer, Centar, so easy to play. PS A scalloped neck does not allow for sloppiness. It will tell on you.

  • @scini2009 I was wondering about the neck myself. I thought it was video distortion becuase I had never seen frets like that before. And, it does look like the neck is partly scalloped.
