April 1939 "Mechanix Illustrated" Article - Sensational rides at Fair
Perhaps the best thing about the midget racer is that it is equipped with it's own gasoline engine, and the passenger drives it under its own power. Visitors will be able to drive their midgets around a circular track, with banked turns, at speeds up to 30 mph. To add to the sensation of movement, the ingenious inventor designed a mechanism that moves the track in the same direction as the cars!

Thank you, that was fantastic. Especially appropriate was the sound track; Benny Goodman's 1938 recording of "Don't Be That Way", I believe.
I got a kick out of the huge black-and-white poster of Eleanor Holm at about the 1:38 mark showing up in a color film which was rare for 1939.

By the second season, they would do just about anything to bring attendance up. The Midway was the big money maker. I too, spent a lot of time in Flushing Meadows during the second fair.
Does anyone have knoledge of the kart track seen at 3:02 ? First, why is the track revolving? Secondly, what are those metal whips sticking up from the karts' hood?

@neatoauctions Not sure why it revolves, especially the wrong way. I think the antennae are touching a wire grid above( out of camera range) for powering the cars.
