@brandojazz when they sleep, as the dog does, humans also use the diaphragm to breathe in. my little 7 year old daughter also uses it when she sings with full voice. my 16 year old singing students usually don't use it any more. so something must have happend in the mean time... one basic wrong idea that may lead to this wrong habit of high clavicular breathing is the idea that it takes a lot of air to sing (speak), whereas the contrary is the case,and so people try to fill their lungs as mad.

As a Chinese teacher who talks too much everyday, this kind of breathing way undoubtly saves my caree. you won't believe that, I almost wanna change my caree as i suffered a server thraot damage.however, i never feel throat pain anymore after i followed your way to breath when i speak Chinese. Thank you so much. please look at my video on my channel, I tried to follow your breathing way to read English text. i am not sure whether i did it right. could you tell me does it sound more better?

@TheVoiceLady Eheh not really. i don't know, it just sounds nasal to me. Thank you really much anyways for your answers.

Stefy, I doubt if you are really nasal since your nose is not vibrating on the long e sound.. Is it possible, however, that you are denasal in which you sound like you have a cold or congestion in your passages. Allergies?
-
@TheVoiceLady I don't know if I did it right, but I hear no vibration.
-
The question might be if you really are nasal. Try this, gently touch the side of your nose -- no pressure -- and say the word key and see if you feel vibrations. Let me know
-
@TheVoiceLady I think i already do that, but for some reason it's still nasal. Thank you for the answer by the way.

You need to enunciate your words along the floor of your mouth instead of up through your nasal passages.
why is it that only "intelligent" mammals stop this type of breathing??

@brandojazz
My apologies. I'm not getting notifications for all of my comments. To answer your question -- because we imitate our loved ones in our early developmental years and they're not doing it correctly either.
