  • I think you have a very fair point, I'm Danish but have been working abroad for the past 10 years and also notice the "jantelov" a lot when I go home... Guess it doesn't help that I'm living in Dubai of all places now :-) Anyways, enjoy your time there - I'm still dreaming of the day I get to move back home...

  • @kvacher Hejsa...thanks for raising your opinion. It makes sense that jantelov would rear its ugly head, and you would notice it more, whilst home in DK for visits. How do you like living in Dubai? That place is fascinating. I've only been once, for 5 days and had a good time. But it's new and strange and everything seems dipped in gold. I wonder what settling down there is like. Hope you get to move back home one day... Good luck! Stay in touch.

  • At first I was so wary and terrified of people finding out about my blog and channel. I still am a bit awkward about it at times. But slowly as I start to get a bit more "comfortable" I just have to roll with the punches and just be proud of it. I love having this hobby, it is a part of me and I have found and "met" so many wonderful women who share the same passion! I couldn't picture my free time without it haha :)

  • @ttsandra It's interesting to hear you've experienced similar hesitations. But yes, it's scary to put one's self and one's ideas (on topics that could be construed as 'shallow') out there to the masses, for all to feast on. But my eyes have been opened to the fact that this hobby is no less deserving than others (some turn to YT for fly-fishing tips, and others for tech support). We go there, and to blogs, to dish on beauty! And darn, if it doesn't bring heaps of joy! Thanks for commenting, S.

  • You are very sweet, i can understand how you would feel the way you do.

  • @leighmarikian Thank you, Leigh! That is nice of you to say. Hope you're smiling. :)

  • to do what made me happy, and not care so much; others dont really care.. really. Sometimes I get the usual comment from them "oh, you really spend money on these things, dont you?". But you know, I cant really be bothered. It's not their problem. What I did, was to mention only once on facebook about my channel. If anyone ever saw it, great. If not. and one day they found out, I could say that wasn't a secret, that I even mentioned it on FB. Worked for me:) Enjoy making them!People ll get it:) x

  • loved to watch my videos, to see me, mostly, but also to see their "exotic" aunt putting on makeup, which is something they're not exposed to, very much. Their mother, also, told me, she always got great tips out of it. and only watched because it was me. My husband and close friends are smart and get that this is a hobby for me, and dont judge me at all. I own it. I think it comes accross the screen. So, basically what I'm trying to say is: danish people also enjoy this:) I felt like I had...

  • ...housewife, due to being an expat for so long (and I love it, dont get me wrong), I have a lot of free time, and have always been a cosmetics addicted anyway, so I decided to do videos, to have some fun with it, and keep me busy. I couldn't be happier, and I get so much kindness and have the same experience with my subs; I feel like they're friends and often mention them to, again, "real life" people. My brother in law, has 2 girls, and we're crazy about each other. They told me the girls...

  • hi Cam! I couldn't relate more with you on this one. Had the same conversation with myself some months ago; I actually had a channel that I took down(mostly cos I wasnt good to do it, a bit depressed about not getting pregnant) but in part, I felt self-conscious of "real life" people seeing me ramble about cosmetics here; specially my danish family and friends, because, as you well said, they are very modest and I felt like I could have been seeing like I was bragging. As a "forced to be"...

  • just watched this video.and may i just say that youre truly awesome.i mean, who would go online and speak so honestly about their fears and hesitations..i admire that.

really.i admit its really nice to watch all those super confident gurus putting on make up, buying chanel bags like theres no tomorrow etc.but then youd never be friends with them in real life.

i think i already told u how much i appreciate you being on YT,so dont change and be so wonderfully true, funny and yes, refreshing!

  • I think that it's important to have something that belongs to you, that you don't have to share with anyone. In your case making these great videos is your special place to express your passion and no one needs to know except your boyfriend only for practical reasons. That's what I think.by the way this the first time I watched your videos thanks to makeupneversleeps and I really enjoy them thx

  • I've just found your channel and am making my way through the "back-catalogue" of videos. I think your videos are awesome (you really enjoy this and it shows!). I don't make videos but can totally imagine where you fears come from, especially if you have a professional job outside of YT. I've also noticed this cult of mediocrity here in Europe (I'm a north American living in London) but I figure it's better to demonstrate by example that it's ok to be direct and passionate than to fade/conform

  • hej cammy, i totally feel you. i still have to find courage to make videos. i really enjoy YT and for me it´s very social :) keep it up! i was so excited to find your channel and thought, yes, finally someone from DK! I think this kind of thing just takes time and you´ll get more comfortable in the process.

What om trying to say here is..being ur honest, kind self will get u supporters everywhere regardless of janteloven:) love ur vids! Greetings Norway\Sweden :D
