@brunnhildeH I would agree that in Mozart and da Ponte's original work the characters are human and believable, but this staging detracts from it instead of enhancing it. Not much thought seems to have gone into this production, from the over the top acting, to the nonsensical props. The behavior of the characters does not fit what they are singing, and the overall effect is incongruous and irritating. Another failed "modern" and weird production rather than original.

Mikor? Hol? Vagy már késő? Ugye még nem?

Dear Elias,
would you please explain it? What they did to the characters you do not like? I see a very human story with very lively characters. Yes, they definetely are not nice people, but to say the truth it is very beliveable. Especially the boys and Zerlinetta are very realistic.
And thank you for loading, this is the fourth version I have with D'Arcangelo as Leporello and the more I hear, the more I love him :-)))
Next yer coming to Budapest to sing the title role and I have ticket :-)
This Masetto is such an asshole! During "Vedrai carino" he's exactly the same way. If I were this Zerlina, I wouldn't even think of saying "mi fa' pieta Masetto". I'd tell him to screw himself and run off with Giovanni - or maybe Leporello...haha.
